My Grandmother, Constance Cundall used to live there. When I was a little boy she used to tell me many stories about how nice it was growing up in Owlett Hall. As you are obviously aware, her father died quite young and the property had to be sold. Oh, what might have been eh? Still, Connie did find true love and married Tom Connell who, I believe, was “station master” at Crowle station; although I could be wrong about that! They loved each other to bits and lived down Wharf Road. Their daughter Pamela was my mother.
Hi Neil,
We’ve lived at Owlett Hall for over 20 years now and really like it here.
From memory I knew we had John Godchild Cundall here ( he was partner in the emporium on Cross Street) and then his son William who was a solicitor – I thought he had moved to Kirton Lindsey.
Do you have any photos of your family when they lived here? It would be great to see the if you do and hear some of your grandmother’s stories.
Please feel free to drop round. Are you related to Paul Connel? He has been giving talks to the heritage society on Crowle Soldiers.
Angus
My dad Alfred John Goodchild Cundall sister to Constance grew up in Owlet Hall with Edith and William (Bill) and we had some good stories from him about their lives growing up.
Although the back gate from Owlet Hall opened onto the church and they could easily walk to church on Sundays the carriage was brought round to the front door and the family and servants would all ride to the church and enter through the front door
Hi Jane, many thanks for your comment. We have lived at Owlett Hall for 28 years now and love to hear stories about what it was like when previous owners lived here. Do you have any photos of the hall from when your father lived here?
