Unfortunately, it has not been possible to arrange a minibus tour this year but I will be running an on-line presentation.

Saturday 12 September: 18.30-19.30

A Complete History of the Drainage of the Isle of Axholme

Join us for a fascinating online talk on the history of the drainage of the Isle of Axholme.

The Isle of Axholme was formerly completely surrounded by marshland. Although the most significant drainage scheme was that commissioned by Charles I in the 17th century this was only part of the story which began with the Romans and continues to the present day. The talk will look at the various drainage schemes in the Isle of Axholme including the extensive works of Cornelius Vermuyden and later works by eminent engineers including John Smeaton and John Rennie.

Opening Times
Saturday 12 September: 18.30-19.30

I will now be giving the talk on Saturday by means of a zoom account from Heritage Lincolnshire, the local organisers of Heritage Open Days.
The joining details are as below. If you have any problems please contact me and we will try and sort things out.
