My Great grandfather Robert Chatterton Brown is buried in Crowle, on his gravestone is also inscribed Robert (Bob) Brown age 21? Killed in action 1917. Anyone shed any light on why he is not on the war memorial, my family come from Crowle Wharf have they their own memorial?
Crowle Wharf and Ealand have a separate War Memorial, 5 names from WW1, 1 from WW2 on it
I am trying to find any history of my fathers side of my family, William Chester Sales he was born in Ealand c1926 and lived in Crowle with sisters Laura, Alvina and Gertrude who ran village shop from back room of house ? he had half brothers and sister Bob, George and Dorothy Wright- can you enlighten me anymore or know someone who can ?
Julie Dixon (nee Sales)
