        Hi Andrew,
There are two swing bridges across the canal in Crowle – one at Crowle Wharf and one at Medge Hall. If his address was Crowle Wharf I am pretty sure he would have been bridge keeper there. I am not aware of any lists of bridge keepers for these bridges. I had a quick look at the Census for 1911 but could not find an entry for him so could not check the address.

Thank you Angus ,on my mothers birth certificate she was born at crowle wharf 1931 and her father listed as canal bridge keeper crowle wharf I found him as born in east butterwick, she had three brothers also there at that time Peter, ralph,George,my mother told me stories of a child collecting mugs from the bank side as she had left drinks for the fisherman .There was a large house almost under the road bridge that spans the canal now it has CRT mooring there as I have passed it in my own boat ,new houses have been build now,she refered to this one but is that location crowle wharf ? I must visit again I love to see the old photos of crowle this is a brilliant site listing photos of that property, I passed the cottage in about 2005 and noticed the house still stood but obviously now gone ,looking at your photos on here the buildings and what looks like a row of cottages still stand at the time of that photo brilliant to see thanks for your reply I will be passing through on my boat in june so ill pay a visit to crowle regards Andrew
